Eyes of Hope® is a global charity platform supporting activities that directly impact communities to give the gift of sight. United with one mission, multiple programs within the Eyes of Hope platform take on challenges involving access to eyecare around the globe.
The platform focuses on four main program areas: a global charitable fund to provide monetary support to vision related projects around the world; eyewear collection and donation; mobile eyecare clinics and eyecare gift certificate programs.
To date, Eyes of Hope outreach programs such as VSP Mobile Eyes® and Sight for Students®, and through relationships including those with the American Red Cross and Optometry Giving Sight, VSP has invested close to $155 million in free eyecare and eyewear for more than 825,000 adults and children in need.
More than one billion people worldwide can't afford or don't have access to eyewear. For the third year, VSP is partnering with the Sacramento Kings to collect gently used eyeglasses to help people around the globe see. For every pair of glasses donated, a Sacramento student in need will receive a free eye exam and, if needed, new pair of glasses.
Through our eyewear donation program, more than 172,000 glasses have been donated to help people see. Nearly 1,400 of those pairs were collected at the Eyes of Hope games in 2012 and 2013, making a difference in the lives of local students and those in need globally.
You can help too! Order your free eyewear donation box to collect glasses in your community. And, if you're going to the Sacramento Kings game on March 3, don't forget to bring your gently used glasses.
